The Media Center should be a place where students can explore. While many people only think about books in a Media Center, it's a great idea to have other short activities that they can experiment with once they have checked out a book. By keeping an open mind and trying out the different brain bins, students might discover other skills. Children learn through play, and these bins will help them develop skills while having fun.
Our students speak many different languages, but many of the items selected for the brain bins won't require written directions, and include manipulatives to develop fine motor skills. The students can explore the different bins and develop critical thinking and strategy skills while having fun.
