When third graders come to the rug area in our class they will feel welcomed and calmed by the blue waves of our new Childcraft carpet. This will be a place to gather for meetings and read-alouds- an important center for learning in our room. The new rug will replace the thin and worn-out carpet used in the past.
A comfy rug is essential for flexible seating in a classroom. Flexible seating allows students to make choices and feel comfortable. Currently, I have tables, cushions, and benches. The scoop rockers will provide yet another type of seating. They allow kids to wiggle a little while reading or doing classwork. When students feel comfortable they are more engaged and able to accomplish more.
