My students thrive when materials are both approachable and multi-functional. Electronic pianos allow them to explore a wide variety of topics within the music curriculum in one familiar tool. The headphone jack allows for independent work with minimal disruption to surrounding classrooms. The compact design allows us to maximize the limited storage space available in the music room and also makes these accessible for students of all ages.
The study of musical instruments develops gross and fine motor skills, supports literacy and higher-level thinking, and gives students an outlet for self-expression. My 2nd and 3rd grade students will be able to practice melodies and simple harmonies. My 4th and 5th graders will be able to extend this to creating their own melodies and accompaniments with the sound banks available. They will all benefit as the visual, audio and tactile aspects of playing piano appeal to all learning styles. This is the quality music education that my students deserve!
