Headphones help resource students concentrate doing online work. My class has different ability levels. Some can read but they struggle to understand what they have read. Some are good at math and some struggle with subtraction within 10. Some can write five paragraphs and struggle with starting their writing. And they're all in the same classroom. I want to set up my class where everyone is learning at their own pace. In order to do that, I have to set up different lessons for each group of students. During distance education, I have created online lessons where I talk and discuss the lesson. This is the most effective way to differentiate instruction and tailor instruction according to student needs.
With headphones, the students would be able to concentrate more on their online work. Some students also like to work with music on especially during writing time, and some students don't. Some students also need to access grade-level work. One way to do that is by integrating text-to-speech technology where a text can be read to them. Headphones would help them to access those instructions.
Lastly, if my class ever goes to quarantine, I can send headphones home so that they are able to concentrate at home too.
