Having books in hand helps students engage more readily with the text they are reading. Because of copyright laws, we cannot print the entire book, so often students are left with gaps in the storyline, unable to fully understand how the plot develops, or what motivated the character. We also want our readers to make connections with the story and not reading the book in its entirety leaves the reader disjointed and confused, making the reader feel more disdain towards reading. Books and stories were meant to be read as the author wrote them, in their entirety, so that we can fully experience the world the author has invited us into. We hope to see readers in our classroom get excited to continue reading, light up as they connect with characters, and go on the journey of the story, experiencing every emotion and thought along the way. Reading brings our classroom to life.
