As a first year teacher, I am using this project to collect classroom supplies that my students will use throughout the year. It is important to me to be able to provide whatever materials students may need to participate in my class as I know some students might not have access to those materials outside of school.
One thing I am very excited about is being able to provide a composition notebook to each student so they can record their warm up responses every day. This notebooks will live in the classroom and be the vehicles through which each student writes into the day, responding to questions and prompts that will tie into our learning that day.
I am also asking for art supplies like colored pencils, markers, flipchart, stickers, and posterboard so that students can explore language through more creative and artistic means. I am hoping that students will be able to design and create text genre summaries that we can display in the classroom so at the end of the year, they can look back and appreciate all the different kinds of texts they are now experts on!
