This project is inspired by the students at our school who come in late and miss breakfast. When this happens, it might be hours before they have a chance to eat at lunch. As they anxiously await lunch, the student's attention isn't completely focused on the work and tasks given to them. From my experience working with students, I know how important it is for them to feel full, content, and happy while at school!
From working with elementary students, I've come to realize that snacks, drinks, personal care items, and materials to help with social-emotional learning have been extremely important over the years. Students come to school not just to learn, but to get other needs met as well. As a social worker at a Title 1 school, I know to keep the unexpected in mind and to be prepared for whatever needs the students may need help with throughout the year. This project will focus on snacks and drinks for students to have for school or home use- no matter the reason.
With students still trying to make it through a pandemic, I want to continue to do what I can for them. These snacks will also be kept for care packages that I can provide for students during the school year. The snacks and drinks can help kids whether they are at home or in their classroom, which is very important to me. Hunger should not be a concern at this time. Thank you for supporting all of our students. I greatly appreciate it!
