The resources that I have requested are intended to supplement the Occupational Therapy therapeutic activities and materials that will aid in therapy time with special needs students. Items like balls, sensory bins and "walks" will help kiddos with balance and coordination issues, while scissor tongs and ADL/fastener vests will help kiddos who struggle with fine motor coordination to be able to dress/undress in order to go to the bathroom independently. The use of intricate games, hand weights, resistive putty, and pencil grips can be beneficial for promoting the development of my students fine motor skills and self care independence. Other items that I have selected (crash pad, sensory brushes, compression vests, etc.) will be used to help regulate my students sensory systems, which is ultimately a means of maintaining an appropriate level of alertness in order to respond appropriately within their school environment. It will be so important in my students' development to have new, quality items to work with. These students will use these specific items to work on fine motor, bilateral coordination, self-help, and emotional regulation skills in the early childhood special education setting. All of my students work so hard to be able to keep with up their peers, and using fresh equipment and materials means so much to them.
