Students in my programming classes often yearn to be better programmers but struggle with complex problem solving. They learn coding well, but struggle when applying their skills to new problems. I would like to have my students "break the ice" and unlock more problem solving techniques by learning and becoming a better chess players. I am requesting 15 sets of strategy games - chess, checkers and tic-tac-toe.
I believe these will be a great activities to get students off their devices, play with another student, and open up their minds to puzzles and problem solving. I am hoping that this will create a fun and enriching activity for students to play while actually opening up their minds and improving their thought processes.
