Our students have unique needs. As educators, we are here to support them, to help them to have a positive school experience, and to encourage them to truly understand their self-worth.
Some of our students have sensory needs which leads to academic and social-emotional challenges. Many of these students benefit from having access to classroom tools such as wobble cushions, fidgets, chewies, and exercise bands. These tools have helped numerous students in the past and we are hopeful that we can provide them for more students.
We also have students who struggle with emotion regulation. For many of these students, picture books help them to learn about their feelings and to learn positive coping skills.
When I have students in my office for a counseling session, activities are usually hands on. Play-Doh is often used, and due to COVID-19, each student is given his/her own container of Play-Doh. Legos are also frequently used, but I have a limited supply at this time, so increasing that will be such a gift to my students.
Thank you for supporting educators and students. We are grateful for you! Thank you!
