The best way to increase a student's reading ability is for them to read, read, read! The books that have been selected will be for student use at school and home. Students will work with two books each week. One book will be used during our small group time during the week and the second book (on the same level) will be sent home at the beginning of the week so they can practice reading at home.
Students will earn "Book Bucks" every Friday for being able to independently read the book they were assigned to take home at the beginning of the week! The students will be able to use their "Book Bucks" to purchase prizes from our class treasure chest. The more books they can independently read, the more "Bucks" they will earn and the more prizes they can purchase.
It is important to associate reading with something fun and exciting so students have something to look forward to as they strive to become strong independent readers.
