In order to promote learning, our students will first need to have their basic needs met. In my classroom, I want to open the SS system (sanitation station). This is where students, who may be a little more shy or embarrassed about their situation (or for those who may not be able to speak our language enough to ask), can come and find items to take care of basic human needs (such as tooth brushes and deodorant). When a child is able to take care of their needs, they will feel more comfortable in a social setting, such as school, and will be able to concentrate more on learning and exploring.
This system will provide a child with a quiet and immediate way to get helpful resources, without having to travel outside of the classroom to ask for help.
