I am so excited at the prospect of every single elementary student being given a chance at learning how to play the piano. I will have the chance to teach melody, chords, high/low pitch and reading musical notation. Not only that (and this is the best part), they are midi controlled. This means that they are operated via usb input and go directly into the students' Chromebooks. Currently our school is 1 to1 with Chromebooks.
I'm so excited to be able to be on the frontlines of teaching digital musical composition. I plan to use Chrome Music Lab Shared Piano as my main digital resource. I also have several self created methods books so the students can move step by step in the process of learning how to create digital music straight from a digital instrument. This is the future of music composition. I love to get the students excited about music. Often times my students come in the music classroom with the feeling of "I have never played that instrument so therefore I can't." I want to turn that right around. I want to empower my students to use self expression and creativity to create their own music.
