My students have need a lot of sensory items to keep them calm and motivated to finish their tasks. My preschoolers struggle with their emotions and having sensory items like a liquid water tile, or discovery tubes will help them when a break is needed from assignments. After a sensory break, they are more focused and engaged in their assignments. These items already have a home in our classroom, in our calm down center! We just need to get them into our class.
My students also struggle with fine-motor skills. Having items like the tactile letters will help with their pre-writing, along with building toys because they have to grasp the small items and put them together. These items will help my students gain more muscle in their tiny fingers so they can start holding writing utensils correctly.
