Students love using floor scooters for a variety of activities; however, our inventory is very old and many of them are broken, limiting the number of students that can participate. Scooters can be used in a number of different relay races and team building games.
A donation of artificial turf would allow us to create our very own putt putt course. Our school has enough putters for every student, so putting greens would allow us to use them. I plan to allow the students to work as a team, using any equipment we currently own, to build unique obstacles for the course. Golf is a fun sport that can be played throughout a persons’ lifetime, which is why I feel that it is important to introduce them at an early age.
Pickleball is an emerging sport for all ages. Our school currently owns a net, but no rackets of any kind. Having pickleball rackets and balls would allow me to introduce them to the sport and teach them the rules of the game, hopefully sparking their interest for years to come.
Cooperative games foster teamwork and help students develop good sportsmanship. There are many activities we can do with the stretchy bands as they help develop balance skills and allow children to practice dynamic movements. They can also be used for stretching and strength training for the older students.
