These items will help my students explore sensory experiences in a safe place within their school building. Many of my students have sensory needs that have to be addressed before they can become successful and effective students in the classroom. My students will explore the items in the sensory room for 15-minute blocks of time throughout their school day. The sensory room will be a darker space with options for movement, touch, sound, and sight. The items that are included in the project include calming lights and tactile items for my students to feel and explore. They will also be able to swing, rock in an inflatable boat, look at a variety of lights, touch a variety of textures, and listen to music that is most soothing to them.
