The majority of the students at my school live in poverty and chaos, and because of this, many are left with needs not met. Often times students do not know how to ask or go about getting the help they need causing them to act out. These students are often labeled as "the bad kids" or "behavior problem", when most of the time they just need someone to take the time to care and believe in them.
I desire to provide a fun safe learning environment (their "Safe Haven") that will inspire and motivate learning, while supporting their emotional needs. The flexible seating, sensory stimulation, and fidget puzzles/toys, will not only provide a safe place for these students to come and manage their behavior and emotions, but will also give them a sense of belonging.
