I would love to have a space in my classroom where students can read and see books with main characters who look like them. I want to create an environment where students ask to read and want to read books where they can see themselves in them. I have many books that represent my class such as "The Name Jar", "To Beautiful Black Boys Who Believe in a Better World", "Eyes that Kiss the Corners", "Crown: An Ode to the Fresh Cut", "Halal Hot Dogs", "The Proudest Blue: A Story of Hijab and Family" and "Drawn Together", but now I want a physical space in my classroom designated to reading these books and exploring identity and diversity.
