In support of our schoolwide theme for the upcoming year, "InTENTional Leading & Learning," I would like to transform my 5th grade classroom into Camp Learn S'more. Due to last year's social distancing protocol, students were unable to utilize many of the flexible seating options around their classrooms and had stringent guidelines for cooperative learning. While teachers did their very best to ensure that students were engaged and learning both in the classroom and at home, students genuinely missed their friends and being able to work closely together. Camp Learn S'more will help reignite the love for learning!
By helping transform our classroom, you will be creating a learning experience for our students unlike any other . Aside from the students walking in each morning to an environment that is welcoming and engaging, one day a week, the tent will serve as our classroom, as it is large enough to seat the entire class! When the weather permits, we will set up the tent on the upper field at our school (and bring our materials with us for the day) to fully immerse ourselves in learning. In times of inclement weather, the classroom will be rearranged to allow for the tent to be set up indoors for Camp Learn S'more: Students will even have time to read around the "campfire" light using their finger lights to help them see the text while nighttime nature sounds are playing in the background.
After having their past two years of learning interrupted due to Covid-19, it is imperative that we find creative ways to engage our students while offering rigorous instruction. With your help, Camp Learn S'more will do just that!
