The restrictions that were put in place this year in my kindergarten classroom, because of COVID, have really opened my eyes to how much my little scholars need to move to stay engaged. After having 17 kindergarteners sitting at desks in rows, I found that we needed to take movement breaks more often. I already had purchased a few wobble chairs and other seating options with my own money, but I would love to give every student in my class the chance to choose for themselves.
Children this age need the freedom to stretch their legs and wiggle their bodies constantly. Flexible seating options will give them the ability to explore and decide how they work best! Whether they need to just move more in traditional seating or want to stretch out on the floor with a clipboard, I want them to take charge of their learning.
While I hope that students will be able to close the "social distance" this upcoming year, I chose all of these items specifically because they can be easily sanitized.
