My students love to read, more than any other students I have ever encountered. Being a new teacher, I have quite a small library of books to choose from. Giving the gift of books to my students, will enhance their classroom experience and allow them to dive deeply into new and exciting knowledge and experiences.
I truly want all of my students to have the opportunity, to see themselves reflected in the literature that they are reading. The books that I have chosen will definitely be a fantastic start! Students will use these books in a variety of ways.
They will use them to read independently, for a variety of reading assignments, read alouds, guided reading lessons, social and emotional lessons as well as lessons about diversity. I have a very diverse class and many are just now beginning to learn how to read. I want them to always feel like they see themselves within literature.
