Flexible seating is a way for students to choose a place to learn that supports their individual needs. My dream is to provide flexible options to as many students as possible. With the current pandemic, I cannot simply allow students to sit wherever they want, as I could have in the past. Currently, our class works in teams to earn flexible seating during the week. This is because I do not yet have all the tools needed to provide more students with daily flexible seating. For example, the wiggle cushions would really help students who are working hard to focus but simply need to move around a little. These cushions can be taken right back to their desk, so the student benefits and their safety is still a priority.
My kids need to get their wiggles out! Wiggle seats can also be used for students who need the structure of a desk, but still, need to move. Though some students need flexible seating more than others, all students enjoy a change in their learning environment. This can be a simple change of seating. Through this project, I will be able to support the needs of more of my students who I know will be able to focus better if they are allowed to wiggle just a little.
