I walked into the art room in October 2021 with only pencils, markers, Xerox paper, and glue. I knew we had to start working with color and other art mediums right away. I bought a class set of watercolors, oil pastels, sharpies and a few other things and went to work! But now my "well" has run dry.
It is important to expose Art 1 students to as many mediums, techniques, styles, and construction as possible. My students are creative and need to see that art is more than just drawing in a sketchbook. I want to grow their creativity. Students also need to learn that art can be their outlet, a way to share their thoughts or to work through issues. I want them to also recognize how to use art to advocate for their own community - a way to visually express who they are as individuals. I also want to foster creating for the sake of going through the art process. That alone is so powerful for most people!
This is where I need your help! To just get the "basics" for an art room is quite pricey! But if each person who comes across my project donates to it, my students will have the opportunity to be exposed to many different ways to create art. This is so important to me as an Art Educator and Creative Arts Facilitator. I hope you consider funding my project!
