The materials requested will be used in a behavior support classroom and a school wide sensory room to assist with meeting the needs of our special education students. Fidget toys and therapy bands will be incorporated throughout the day while the students are working on academics, as well as during brain breaks. Larger objects such as stumps and logs will be used in the designated sensory room that allows for movement breaks, as needed, to release energy and refocus.
Sensory items allow children to use hands-on activity to help navigate feelings, release energy, and refocus their positive behavior.
Not only will children in the behavior support classroom have access to these materials, all children throughout the school in grades PreK thru 5th grade will be able to use them too.
