The vast majority of my students are unable to purchase instruments on their own so they check out instruments from the school for free. Many of our school-owned instruments are anywhere from 10-40 years old and are starting to break and need repair and replacement. Having a new set of instruments would expand our usable inventory and allow more students to participate in band free of charge. New instruments also mean that students would not have to worry about whether the notes will play correctly or if their instrument will stop working halfway through the school year. The students take their instruments home every day so they can get practice outside of school, as well.
