The lending library supports student literacy and encourages the love of reading. Having a Little Free Library in the front courtyard of the school will allow 24 hour access for families to retrieve, donate, or exchange a book at any time. Books will be rotated out in an effort to match readers to books. The school librarian will be established as the coordinator and overseer of the Little Free Library. A range of fiction and nonfiction books appropriate for elementary aged students will be present in the library at all times and throughout the year. Keeping the libraries functioning during the summer will continue to give students access to new books when the doors of the classroom are closed.
If we want to improve student's ability to read and their love of reading we need to provide access to books!
