I have very bright students who are in constant need of extension activities. I can't imagine a greater extension than the opportunity to use school time and resources to dive deeper into interesting school content areas on student-produced podcasts. The podcasting studio items I am looking to acquire should allow us to build a fun little Podcast studio here at our elementary school. Students should be able to create content anywhere, and then come together to build it into a fun podcast for the school community.
One of the toughest challenges of the pandemic (particularly in regards to distance learning) is making students care, and I know that work that leads to a long-term digital asset is something that these students would definitely care about.
Frankly I don't know nearly as much about podcasting as I should to dive into this project, but I do know that we have so many wonderfully talented creators, and other students who may have lots of untapped creative potential, and I feel this may be a great way to let those students grow their interests and abilities, all while digging deeper into the 6th grade math, social studies, and writing content. I look forward to using these materials to grow my understanding of the medium, and even more so giving my students an even greater voice to share their content area knowledge.
