Our students will be using the option of flexible seating to listen to a read aloud from our guest readers or librarian after every class visit. Incorporating read alouds for 10-15 minutes can help our students use their background knowledge during discussions, connect ideas and experiences throughout the text, and have opportunities to ask questions when needed. Our flexible seating area will be used for 2-5 times a day on a daily basis (Monday-Friday).
By using flexible seating, our students will have the ability to sit in a comfortable area, with less limit on the location, where they can enjoy a great read aloud, and learn new literacy skills provided by the librarian or teacher. Our students will also have the option to use the seating area to read independently after they have checked out their library book. Providing our students to not only have the opportunity to choose what they want to read or check out books in the library, but also to provide the choice of where they would want to sit while reading their book. These colorful seating cushions brings joy and motivation for our avid readers to use and appreciate them when they can.
