These supplies will bring a world of difference to our students. By having these tools organized and handy so students can easily find them and know they are readily available we can better assist and help them to achieve the skills they are working so hard on. We are currently short on basic tools such as scissors and coloring tools for tasks we work on each week and so we share the few scissors we have when available. When completing maths tasks it is very beneficial for the students to have items or number lines to help them add and subtract as they build their skills. Along with those being able to do whole group activities using those same manipulatives, the dry erase boards and each student having money to manipulate is going to be a tremendous help with reaching these goals.
Reading tools are a very important set of items to have on hand for the students. It can be hard for them to go to our school library to find books of interest that are also within their reading abilities. It is important to make sure that they have a well-rounded library available and so that is something I am trying to provide for them as they continue to practice their reading skills at various levels. Our new word walls will be a huge help to our students as they continue building writing skills and mastering more words. One word wall will be math, safety, and job-related words.
These items will be greatly appreciated by my students as so many want to learn and be able to do things on their own once they graduate from college and begin working and purchasing their own items as adults.
