Students need to learn about the world in which they live in an engaging and meaningful way. Hands on learning helps students to gain a deeper level of knowledge. We will incorporate the hatching kit across all subject areas to enhance student engagement. We will write down daily observations. We will turn those observations into informational paragraphs. We will use math skills and deepen our knowledge using fractions comparing the number of eggs that hatched and did not hatch. We will learn about science and the life cycle of animals. We will deepen our reading skills as we read books about chickens and their habitats. My colleagues and myself will rotate students through this science group providing an excellent learning opportunity to 120 students each year.
