Our current library seating options do not reflect the current usage of our library. Although we have lovely wooden tables, they are quite large and difficult to maneuver. They are also getting rather wobbly due to age and the frequency with which we rearrange the furniture of the library. Our space is getting a facelift this summer with the replacement of the (original!) carpeting with a stained concrete floor, so our students will need a nice area to sit as a group for stories and whole-class activities.
Our library not only serves as a learning space for our students, but it also acts as a collaboration spot for our faculty and staff and frequently as a meeting place for family involvement and community groups. By replacing our current tables with smaller, more easily rearranged tables, and by creating a new cozy group reading area, we can create a library that is more inviting and practical for the multitude of uses a modern library space is needed for.
