These books will begin to create a print rich classroom that I strive to provide my students with. I have watched as my students searched through our current classroom library to choose an independent reading book. Many have struggled with finding one of interest. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind. I have asked them what types of books they enjoy reading.
These books will give students the opportunity to have reading materials of both high interest and relatable characters. The students will have the opportunity to read independently, in partnerships, and in groups. By having enough copies for every student, they will be able to bring the books home nightly and share their learning with their families. Reading high interest and common books creates a strong community within the classroom, which leads to enhanced experiences with written words! The anchor chart holder will afford the students a place to hold their reading charts as a reference point during student led work time.
