Of an estimated 1900 students, 400 are English Language Learners.
27% of the parents of our students have a college degree. Some of the students who graduate from Mt. Eden are the first in the family to have a high school diploma and many more are the first to attend college. The Ethnic breakdown is approximately;
47% Hispanic, 33% Asian/Pacific Islander, 10% White, and 10% African American. Our students get along remarkable well considering their diversity. At one point it was determined that our students had over 60 home languages. The school is almost 60 years old and it has been very poorly maintained over the years and our students often suffer from the climate that has been created by this aging facility.
