I am requesting musical instruments, stories, and light up sensory materials for my students with visual and auditory challenges. Students will use these instruments to help them experience school as their sighted peers do. We need sensory toys - light up, musical, auditory - to help these amazing students experience school and learning as their peers do. Due to their visual impairments they need supports put into place to help them better use their vision.
Using lighted, musical and auditory toys help draw attention to the object or material they are learning. One example of how I will use the material is during story time. I use the felt story pieces against a black felt board and light up the story pieces with a penlight. This helps draw their attention to the story pieces.
