These materials will give students multiple platforms to write and express themselves. I would love for students to have a safe place to write stories, their thoughts, dreams, and even simple things like their assignments. Being at a Title 1 school teachers supply many of the materials for students so it takes the pressure off our families hence the pencils and erasers. I want kids to be excited about writing, to be able to be creative and not feel judged about their thoughts and these materials will do just that.
My students need a way where they feel they can express their goals, thoughts and even fears. That is exactly what these materials will provide. Writing can be such a powerful tool for everyone. I have seen students come alive in their writing and tell me things that they might be too afraid to say aloud. It is such a powerful way to express things.
I know not everyone might be comfortable writing in a journal so I want to provide other materials they can use to write on (the protective sleeves, and white board markers). Some kids just need a marker and paper that's easier to write on like in a protective sleeve to get their thoughts down on and than make their way to a journal.
I want kids to be excited to write, and be inspired to share their stories. Who knows maybe I will have the next Eric Carle, or poet in my class.
