As a second-year teacher, I am still struggling to build my classroom library and meet the book interests of my students. Motivated by the diverse group of students I teach, my desire is to fill my shelves with books that any of my students can relate to.
I believe that the exposure to different voices and storytelling will empower them, encourage them, and prove to them that they are seen and valued. Therefore, I believe it is crucial for me to fill my shelves with books that are diverse, engaging, and relevant.
I have seen the difference a book can have in my student's lives and I want to continue to be able to connect with them through stories that matter to them.
