I am reaching out to you for funding for an Engineering with Robotics Elective project. This class will incorporate Engineering Design Principles, problem solving strategies, innovation, and growth mindset throughout this course. It has cross-curricular themes, as well as looking at how we can engineer for good (i.e. prosthetics, rovers, windmills).
I would love it if I could bring my middle school more into the STEAM and Maker world, especially as many other middle schools are doing this specific program. The main focus of the elective would be to engage students in a hands-on learning environment using LEGO MINDSTORMS® Education EV3 robotics, which is the requirement for the annual local Robotics Challenge.
Again, this would all go towards providing hands-on learning opportunities in STEAM with products and solutions that support inquiry-based and active learning. We would be competing in the local county Robotics Challenge each year, which would then hopefully instill a sense of STEM and STEAM (as there are creative art projects involved at the competition and in my curriculum) with students who may not be able to access that sense of wonder and curiosity in their everyday science classes.
