In my drama class, I like to start with projects that make the students feel comfortable with being on the stage. I start with pantomiming, and then move quickly into duet acting. I use duet scripts with students because they are often too timid to be up on the stage all by themselves in a monologue. These books will give the students over one hundred scripts to look through and choose the one that fits their personality and their interests.
Students love working with a duet partner and often develop strong friendships with this partner. They also learn the skills of working through differences of opinion with this partner. We present these duet acting scripts to the class first for a grade, and then we present a complete duet acting show for parents and the community. The parents really love this show!
