As the school counselor, I often use picture books in classroom lessons, small groups and with individual students. I'd love to expand my library so that I have books on hand to address the needs of my students as they arise.
I've found that one of the best ways to teach young children about emotions, character traits and social justice is through picture books. Picture books are engaging and relatable and are a simple and effective way to reach students of all ages! I want books that reflect the diversity of my students in the book's characters and experiences.
