In the last few years, the items that kids play with outside for recess have been loved and played with. These items are starting to show their wear and tear. The requested items would be to help students continue to stay active outside during recess time.
During this tough school year, these kids have worked so hard to stay in school full time and it is my hope to provide them with some joy during their recess time with new toys and balls. Many studies have ben done that prove the importance of free, unstructured time for kids during the school day.
Since the district is smaller, sometimes funds for these small things can be difficult to find and justify since they are not promoting core subjects. The community and families already give so much. By providing these toys, balls, jump ropes and ankle skip it game, for the kids to use, we hope to promote movement and exercise as well as build relationships as well as social skills, and reduce recess argument.
