My student are in the Gifted and Talented program in an urban school district. We are project based gifted and talented program, currently sewing story quilts. All the material needle, thread, etc. are donated. Students are so excited and working hard. Our school is located in a low income area a neighborhood school. Most student's parents walk or bring them to school. My students and their parents are willing and ready to do whatever I ask, although some only speak Spanish . Last year I asked my students to enter an academic competition for the experience. Ten students stepped up, had fun and one student placed third . This year our class was moved to a book room with no working electrical outlets or vents. We have recently got working outlets. We are not complaining we are making the best of it. We have a very active volunteer group putting in more hour than any school in our area. Our students are 98% Hispanics with 100% receiving free or reduce lunch.
