We currently have 60 calculators that are 6 years old for 1,100 students in our school. Our hope is to get 30 calculators in every teacher's classroom as a class set. This way we have enough for district and state testing. We have chosen scienctific calculators because we do not want to use graphing on state tests because it would give the answer. However, a basic calculator does not use the high functions such as exponents that we use for our state standards.
Our goal is that students can use calculators to check answers and speed up the process to get to answers. This way we can dive deeper into every standard
We in Nevada are super behind in funding and would not expect new calculators for several years. Also, it would be only to replace the 60 ones we currently have and not enough for every student to use.
