The materials that I am requesting for my students are magnetic tiles and blocks that will expand their imaginations by constructing anything that they choose to create. It may be a rocket ship soaring through space, a castle, a tower, or my student's favorite to build... a robot!
When they have something in mind of what they want to build, they have a goal to put it together and make it work. With these materials they will engage their curiosity and imagination. they will learn patience if their construction comes apart and learn to keep going and not give up. they will gain problem solving skills.
Along with imagination, curiosity and patience the materials will help with their fine motor skills. Learning to use the control of their hands while building with the magnetic tiles is huge for Pre-K. The kids will focus on their building goal and once they've achieved their goal they will say, "Ms. I look what I built" and their little boost of confidence and their huge smile is what makes it all worth it!
