3D modeling and 3D printing are an essential parts of STEM. We use the Engineering Design Process to create and fabricate 3D models. Through this process, we learn about real world application of engineering design and manufacturing.
The filament needed is the plastic used to fabricate the 3D models. Students fabricate projects such as downhill racers, puzzle cubes and games, name plates, avatars, and story cubes.
Many of the projects created are meant to be cross-curricular. For example, the story cube teaches parts of speech and writing a creative story. The downhill racers teach about potential and kinetic energy along with Newton's 3 Laws of Motion. STEM in motion helps create a well-rounded, educated student.
