As Mr. Rogers always said, "Play is truly the work of childhood." Kindergarteners need to spend time in the dramatic play center in order to grow their self regulation and social skills, develop rich vocabulary and oral language, and build connections to the world and people around them. A quality dramatic play center will allow my students to engage in science, math, reading, and writing skills without them ever even suspecting that they are learning. (Teachers are sneaky!)
This dramatic play market stand will be utilized each day during both our literacy centers and our purposeful play time. It will open up a whole new world of real life experiences for my students to explore like: going to the doctor, shopping at the grocery store, managing a flower shop, being a meteorologist or news anchor, and anything else their imaginations dream up!
