These audio books will be placed in listening centers in Kinder, 1st, and 2nd grade. As teachers move through the literacy block and engage students with a variety of ways to interact with books, small groups of 2-4 children will be invited to listen to stories on CD while following along with hard copies of the books.
Listening is a crucial reading skill; these audio books will help students make sense of the words they see and hear while also developing metacognitive skills such as visualizing and making connections. By pairing this experience with the opportunity to work collaboratively and discuss texts with peers, students will grow as readers and improve their overall reading comprehension.
