I am requesting balance ball chairs, floor cushions and stacking stools. The materials I am asking your support with would directly impact my students’ learning environment within the classroom.
My school works to empower students to take charge in their own learning. Providing flex seating in our classroom would allow my students to decide what is best for them for that day. It would also allow variation in set up of the various activity areas, and would be easily modified based on the day's plan or a student’s needs.
During independent work I want to be able to provide my students with different options for seating that would best support their learning. Perhaps it would be using a cushion on the carpet with clipboards, sitting at a table with a balance ball chair, or moving a stool around the classroom to find the right spot. Flexible seating helps these young learners burn excess energy, remain focused, and improves engagement and motivation. Classrooms that offer flexible seating also see improved student behaviors and productivity.
Your support would bring floor cushions, stools, and rolling balance ball chairs into my kindergarten classroom and allow me to provide the kind of learning environment that will help my students thrive. After seven months of being in front of a screen, perhaps from their bed or at the kitchen table, I am so excited for them to be in our classroom and learning in a much more supportive situation. Thank you for helping me provide that to them.
