We started a Robotics program this year at PJH with no budget. We have been able to buy competition robots through donations. I have over 70 more students that have expressed an interest in working with Robotics, an incredible response!
This project will add 10 Spike Robots that will be used as part of the 6th Grade Technology Applications classes. It will allow me to team two students per class to one Spike Prime robot. The students have shown an insatiable interest in programming and designing robots. They have exemplified incredible work ethics, leadership, and a willingness to come in after-hours and on their lunch hours to work on robotics. In over 25 years of teaching, I have never seen a program that has captured the hearts and minds of my students as has the First Lego League program. Its core value is character and leadership. It is giving our students skills that are desperately needed in the workforce. Technical expertise in robotics and programming is exploding on the job market. Any donation is an investment in the future of our community, the future leaders of our community, and an avenue for these students to excel and compete in a very competitive job market when they complete their public school education.
