These books will allow my students to have a read aloud that will focus on the math concept we are working on at that time. The visuals from the books will give the students a clear visual of what the concept is and will demonstrate that math is all around us.
The stories will engage them and give them an opportunity to make connections with the real world and understand why we need to learn math. It is also a way to teach the students the math vocabulary. Students can make predictions from the stories that will extend their knowledge and comprehension on the specific concept.
They will have fun while learning math and will allow the teacher to steer away from direct instruction and have more of a differentiated instruction to accommodate different learning styles.
