I am the only teacher in the "On the Job Training Program" and "Career and Technical Education Internship" as such I teach dual modality (students at home and students physically in the classroom). It is very difficult to deliver the full lesson as I need to share my screen to teach and then I cannot monitor the students, or if I monitor and assist the students I have to stop sharing the class material.
Some students do not like to ask questions live and send messages in the chat during class, however, I do not always see their questions as I cannot see them if I am sharing my screen teaching. Thus, these students sometimes leave class with questions unanswered or have to send their concerns via Remind after class. This is not as effective as I would like to be with them.
I want them to succeed, to understand that no matter where you come from if you work hard and stay focused you can achieve. I want them to believe in themselves as I do. What better example than a hispanic, single mother, working a minimum wage job, and was able to earn a Bachelor's degree and is currently working on her Master's Degree. I could go back to the business world and make a higher salary but, schools like mine need teachers that care to help students that seem not to care. It is a challenge to help them understand their worth and possibilities.
